Privacy policy

Draft, not yet in force. This text describes how the website and Fair Ludo work today. It must be reviewed by the owner, ideally with a legal professional, before Fair Ludo launches in the app stores. Points still to decide are marked “To decide”.

Last updated: 7 October 2026

The short version

  • Fair Ludo has no accounts, no ads and no tracking.
  • The only personal thing you give the game is the player name you type. Use a nickname if you like.
  • Chat messages are passed on to the other players in your game while you play. We don't store them, except when a player is reported: then the reported player's last few messages are kept with the report so we can look into it.
  • This website has no cookies of its own, no analytics and no trackers.
  • If you email us, we keep your email so we can answer you.

Who we are

Yoploo is a small studio that makes games and apps, including Fair Ludo. In this policy “we” means Yoploo. You can reach us about privacy at privacy@yoploo.com.

To decide: the legal name and country of the person or business responsible for the data (needed by the app stores and by data protection law), once Yoploo's business registration is settled.

Fair Ludo: what the game uses

Your player name

You type a name to join a game. It is shown to the other players in that game. Your device remembers it so you don't have to type it again. Our server keeps it only in memory while the game is running.

Chat

Quick messages, emojis and short typed messages are sent through our server to the other players in your game, straight away. Names and typed messages pass through a word filter first. If you block a player, our server stops sending you their messages for the rest of that game; they are not told.

While a game runs, our server keeps the room's last 50 chat messages in memory only, as evidence in case someone reports a player. These are never shown to players and disappear with the game.

Reports

If you report a player, our server records the report: the room code, the reason you picked, your player name, the reported player's name, a scrambled code for their place in that game (not linked to their device or IP address), and their messages among the room's last 50 chat messages. Reporting also blocks them for you. For now reports are written to our game server's log, which we read to deal with abuse. The reported player is not told.

To decide: how long reports are kept (and moved to proper storage once the game has a database).

Game data

To run a game, our server keeps the game in memory: the room code, the players' names and colours, every move and roll, and the random numbers used for the fair dice. When the game ends, these random numbers are shown to the players so anyone can re-check every roll. A game is removed from our server's memory a few minutes after the last player leaves, and whenever the server restarts. We don't build profiles or keep a match history.

Stored on your device

The game stores a few small settings in your browser or app: your player name, Classic or Power mode, the teams setting, day/night theme and sound on/off, plus your last game (its room code and your seat), so you can rejoin if the app or tab was closed. These stay on your device. You can clear them by clearing the site's data in your browser or the app's storage on your phone.

Connection data

Like any online service, our game server sees your device's internet (IP) address while you are connected, because that is how the connection works. To stop abuse, the server counts how many rooms each IP address creates or joins, in memory only, for 10 minutes. The hosting provider that runs our server may keep short-term technical logs that include IP addresses, for security and fixing problems.

To decide: name the game server's hosting provider (planned: Render for testing, then Fly.io or Hetzner) and how long its logs are kept.

What Fair Ludo does not do

  • No accounts, no sign-in, no email or phone number needed to play.
  • No ads, no advertising IDs, no analytics or tracking tools.
  • No access to your contacts, photos, location, camera or microphone.
  • No selling or sharing of your data with anyone.

This website

yoploo.com is a simple website hosted by Cloudflare (Cloudflare Pages). It sets no cookies of its own and uses no analytics, trackers or third-party scripts. The font (Fredoka) is served from our own site, so loading a page doesn't contact Google or anyone else.

If you use the day/night switch, your browser remembers your choice on your own device (in its local storage, not a cookie). It is never sent to us, and clearing the site's data removes it.

To deliver the site and protect it from attacks, Cloudflare processes technical data such as your IP address and browser type. Cloudflare may in some cases set a strictly necessary security cookie. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.

Emailing us

Emails to hello@, support@ and privacy@yoploo.com are forwarded by Cloudflare Email Routing to our studio inbox, which is a Google (Gmail) account. We keep your email and our reply so we can help you, and delete them when they are no longer needed. If you ask to be an early tester, we use your email address only to invite you to tests and send test news, and we stop as soon as you ask.

Children

Fair Ludo is a friendly board game, but because players can type chat messages to each other, it is not meant for children. We don't knowingly collect anything from children; if you think a child has sent us personal data, write to privacy@yoploo.com and we will delete it.

To decide: the exact minimum age and store age rating (planned: not for children, because of free chat). Laws such as COPPA (US) and GDPR (EU) have special rules for children's data.

Your rights

Apart from reports, the game doesn't keep personal data after a game ends, so there is usually nothing for us to show or delete. You can still ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it (for example your emails to us), or complain. Write to privacy@yoploo.com and we will answer within 30 days. Depending on where you live, you may also complain to your data protection authority.

To decide: which laws apply (for example Sri Lanka's Personal Data Protection Act No. 9 of 2022, the EU/UK GDPR) and any extra wording they require.

Changes to this policy

If we change how Fair Ludo or this website handles data (for example if we add accounts or match history later), we will update this page and the date at the top first, and tell players in the game when the change matters to them.
